Connecting DigitalOcean
Potions needs access to your DigitalOcean account to provision servers, manage SSH keys, and create droplets (servers). You connect once through OAuth, and Potions handles the rest.
Connecting Your Account
-
From the Dashboard, click Connect next to DigitalOcean.
-
You'll be redirected to DigitalOcean's authorization page. If you're not already logged in, DigitalOcean will ask you to sign in first.
-
Click Authorize application.
-
DigitalOcean redirects you back to Potions.
Don't have a DigitalOcean account yet? Create one here. You'll need an active payment method on your DigitalOcean account before Potions can create droplets.
What Potions Gets Access To
Potions only requests the minimum permissions necessary to manage your servers. Potions does not have access to your DigitalOcean billing, domains, or any other resources.
Disconnecting
To disconnect your DigitalOcean account:
- Go to your Account (click your avatar in the top nav)
- Find your DigitalOcean connection under Providers
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm the disconnection
Disconnecting removes your OAuth credentials from Potions. Servers that were already created continue to run on DigitalOcean - Potions doesn't delete or modify them. However, you'll no longer be able to create new servers or perform management actions.
Things to Know
- One DigitalOcean account per Potions account. You can connect a single DigitalOcean account at a time. To switch accounts, disconnect the current one and connect the new one.
- Existing servers survive disconnection. Disconnecting removes Potions' ability to manage your DigitalOcean account, but servers already running are untouched. They're your servers and you can always manage them directly through the DigitalOcean dashboard.
